Updated: Jun 28, 2022

THE PROBLEM

Rancher’s Madison Aquifer well casing split below the control valve.

The well flows over 1,200 gpm at 45 psi.

THE FIX

Clint Ruby, of Ruby Drilling Co., Inc. of Gillette, Wyoming was on site. John Wetstein was on site in an advisory capacity for Engineering Associates. The fix included:

  1. Removing old valve and discharge piping.

  2. Pumping the water level down to allow the cracked casing to be removed.

  3. Torch cutting split casing off and weld a new flange to the original casing.

  4. Installing new gate valve to control the well flow.

  5. Installing lubricator to well head and run a cement bond long (CBL) to verify cement seal behind casing- check well integrity.

  6. Installing new discharge piping for irrigation flow and re-connect plastic discharge piping for stock watering system.
